VPOP3

Small Businesses

If you are a small business then you are probably wondering how you can let everyone on your network have access to Internet Email without buying an expensive 'Business' Internet account.

You may have an Internet account which provides 'unlimited email addresses' (i.e. '<anyone>@domain.com'), but all the messages arrive jumbled up so that it isn't easy to prevent people reading each other's messages. Also, it means that you may need to have a single machine which downloads the mail, and then people have to physically access that machine to read their email.

In this case, VPOP3 is the answer. VPOP3 lets you use your cheap Internet account and distribute the email over your network so that each person can read their personal mail separately at their own PC.

If you don't have an Internet account which provides 'unlimited email addresses', sign up now for InetPlus web hosting and get free unlimited email addresses.

VPOP3 also acts as a local email server, so you don't need to spend a fortune on email software like CC-Mail, Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Exchange. You can use your VPOP3 machine as the server, and easily accessible Internet email client software as your mail reader. You can even read the email on an Apple Macintosh, Amiga or Unix machine - in fact anything which supports Internet email.

Everyone

Whether you are a business or an individual user, VPOP3 has something to offer you. VPOP3 is a very powerful piece of software (don't be misled by its small size!) Some of the most useful things it can do for you are:

  • Download messages according to rules/filters. One of the best uses for this technology is the ability to prevent the downloading of spam email!
  • Flexible Scheduling. VPOP3 can download mail unattended. Unlike many other mail server programs which have very basic scheduling capabilities (for instance, 'connect every 60 minutes'), VPOP3 can limit connections to only between certain hours, and only on certain days. If you wish, you can even program each automated connection individually!
  • Autoresponders. VPOP3 can simplify some of your routine work by processing certain email messages automatically. The autoresponder capabilities go far beyond the basic 'respond with this text file' facility that many mail servers offer.
  • Multiple mail server support. VPOP3 can collect mail from multiple servers (up to 10 in Version 1.0.4, or 1000 in 1.0.7 beta).
  • Auto-connections. VPOP3 can sense other software connecting to the Internet, and it can automatically share that connection without any user intervention (if that is how it is configured), so that VPOP3 can collect & send mail whilst you're 'surfing the net'.

See the feature list for a full set of features.

VPOP3 Price List

VPOP3 is available for evaluation with up to 5 local mailboxes for testing for up to 30 days. If you use it longer than this, then you must purchase a licence for the software.

The licence prices are given below:

Number of local mailboxes Price (£) LAN Forwarded addresses allowed
Home Version1 25.00 0
1 - 5 40.00 5
6 - 10 75.00 10
11 - 25 125.00 Unlimited
26 - 50 180.00 Unlimited
51 - 100 250.00 Unlimited
101 - 250 375.00 Unlimited
Unlimited 625.00 Unlimited

Please add VAT at 17.5% if necessary (i.e. for purchases within the United Kingdom, or within the European Union if you don't supply us with your VAT registration number)
Notes:
All the above licence prices are per server.

The Home version is aimed at home users - This supports 5 users, but has reduced business functionality (eg no listserver, external autoresponders, LAN forwarding etc). See the help file for more details.

To work out how many mailboxes you need. Simply add the number of users who will be accessing VPOP3 to the number of autoresponders that you will have, and that's the licence size you will need (email aliases, mailing lists & distribution lists do not count as users).

If you are also using LAN Forwarding, then the licence size you need may be larger - you need to take the larger of the number determined above, and the number of LAN forwarded addresses (if there are more than 25 LAN forwarded addresses, then count it as 25).

Payment Methods

You can pay by Cheque, Credit card using Phone/FAX, or Credit card over the Internet

Invoices/Pro-forma invoices etc

Invoices and pro-forma invoices are available for licences for 25 or more users. Please contact us if you require a pro-forma invoice.

  • Major version upgrades (eg V1.3.0 to V2.0.0) will be charged at 50% of the full price. (Unless you bought the lower version less than 3 months before the later version was released, in which case you are eligible for a free upgrade).
